Unlike most casterboards I’ve attempted to learn with (and failed), The Wave Original from Street Surfing has really impressed me. This casterboard feels slightly heavier than the others I’ve tried, yet it provides a much smoother ride overall while being extremely rugged and I must say, very stylish.
The Wave Board features a spring-oriented torsion bar that allows the front and rear panels to flex. So while this does give an amazing degree of control (eventually), at first I found the tension bar to be very stiff. Although after a few hours of use it certainly did loosen up and the ride got much smoother.
While the learning curve might be steep for most people (it took me a couple of days), especially if you have no previous snowboarding, skateboarding or surfing experience, it’s certainly a lot easier to master than most casterboards on the market though, even regular skateboarding wasn’t this easy for me. The Wave Board has received tremendous support from the skating community with the majority of reviews making this out to be the hottest casterboards on the market.
In the words of Street Surfing:
The Wave combines the natural fluidity of surfing with the smooth maneuverability of snowboarding and skating into one new action board sport known as Street Surfing.
One of the features I love most about this casterboard are the customisable deck plates, they are easy to swap over and not that pricey either with a great selection of graphic designs to choose from.
